Halloween is Coming!

Halloween is coming! It is the perfect time to make fun bakes inspired by this festive date.

Halloween's spooky traditions go back thousands of years. The origins of the revelry have been linked to the Celtic festival of Samhain, but the tradition of giving sweets away on Halloween didn’t begin until the 1950s, when sweets companies decided to get in on the trick-or-treating action.

As autumn rolls around and consumers crave warming drinks and treats, pumpkin spice is once again the flavour of the month.

About 40% of consumers buy fresh pumpkins to hollow out and carve to celebrate Halloween, but 60% of those admit they do not use the flesh, according to research by the stock cube brand Knorr and the environmental charity Hubbub.

Halloween has become a big money-spinner for retailers. An estimated 10m pumpkins are grown in the UK every year, 95% of which are hollowed out to create ghoulish lanterns.
