New Flavours and Seasonal Concepts for Christmas 2020

For Christmas 2020, Blends Ltd. are creating new and exciting flavours and Seasonal concepts to give a modern touch to traditional fare. Christmas is one of the most important seasonal events for the food & Drink market and we can already see what the big names of the industry are bringing to us, on our Super Market shelves.

Global trends, that we saw throughout this year, are expected to remain on the shelves and in our dishes such as Botanical Extracts (such as those derived from Gin), Aromatic Spices, Sweet Herbs and Scandinavian style flavours (such as Seabuckthorn, Lingonberry & Cloudberry). Customers expect quality ingredients, sophisticated profiles and beautifully executed dishes, requiring more preparation and planning to meet our ever evolving tastes.

We are creating a fresh approach to the Season with contemporary combinations of natural flavours such as peach, pear and plum with alcoholic beverages like Prosecco, Champagne and Spiced Rum. The concept for this Christmas is multifunctional natural flavours that can provide health benefits and great taste.

According to Claire Murphy, Director of Innovation at Blends, consumers are looking for new, modern versions of classic flavours and tastes. There has been a huge trend toward “permissive indulgence” at different times throughout the year, especially Summer and Winter in the UK. Creating new rituals and different Sensory experiences during these Seasons bring a new lease of life to Food and Drink and enhances our emotional connection to what we consume, making it more celebratory or memorable…more special!

In additional we have also seen strong Seasonal influence from overseas markets, such as the US, Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, etc for Seasonal and Cultural Themes such as Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Eid, Diwali, Mother’s Day and Thanksgiving. We have also seen a huge increase in many of the Christmas Markets that we now see in all the major Towns and Cities across the UK, which bring inspirational new ideas and new traditions to our Market said Claire.

For Christmas 2020, Blends are showcasing different options for the traditional Mince Pie, with flavours such as Sweet Aromatic Pumpkin Spice, Valencia Orange, Chai Spice and Japanese Yuzu. We also are creating concepts for Tipsy Cheesecakes with alcohol infused Compotes and Truffles with trendy Scandinavian flavours, that have a strong influence in this season.
